Ever wondered what happens when four musicians from different worlds collide in a studio? Spoiler: it’s controlled chaos, late-night breakthroughs, and a lot of dancing.
Here’s the real story of how Zumbar’s sound is born.

The Creative Process: Four Brains, One Beat
Xia Chen starts with a spark, a synth line, a production idea, a vibe. Then Evi locks in the rhythm, adding percussion that makes you move whether you want to or not. Imani brings the bass foundation and vocal harmonies that ground everything. And Olivia? She’s the storyteller, weaving lyrics and melodies that make you feel something.
It’s not always linear. Sometimes a song starts with Olivia’s lyrics about love or renewal. Sometimes Evi brings a rhythm that demands an entire track be built around it. The magic is that nobody’s precious about their ideas, if it serves the song, it wins.
Our studio became our second home. We’ve learned that the best ideas come at 2 a.m., usually when someone says «wait, what if we tried this crazy thing?» That crazy thing often makes it to the final mix.

The Squad: Where Personalities Meet Passion
Olivia Martinez – The lyricist and melody keeper. She hears a rhythm and immediately starts singing over it. She’ll go through 50 lyric ideas before landing on one that captures the exact emotion she’s chasing. She’s also our unofficial motivator, the one who keeps energy high when production gets tedious.
Imani Jones – The groove architect. Imani’s bass lines are the skeleton of everything we do. She has an ear for what makes people feel the beat. Off the clock, she’s the wise one, the person who steps back and says, «Does this actually make sense?» Her harmonies add texture you didn’t know you needed.
Xia Chen – The sonic alchemist. Xia can spend hours tweaking a synth sound until it’s perfect. She brings the electronic worldliness to our Salsa-rooted music, that’s the bridge between tradition and future. She’s also hilarious and keeps us laughing through 12-hour sessions.
Evi Meijer – The heartbeat. Evi’s percussion is what makes you move. She understands rhythm at a cellular level and isn’t afraid to try unconventional patterns. She’s the bridge between our electronic sound and live, organic percussion. She’s also the first to say «let’s take a break and dance» when the energy dips.
Together? We’re a family. We celebrate each breakthrough like it’s a small victory (because it is), and we’re honest when something isn’t working. There’s zero ego when it comes to the music.

From Studio to Release: The Journey
Recording → The raw recordings are always chaotic and beautiful. Vocals get layered, synths get twisted, and live percussion gets recorded in a corner of the studio because it just sounds better that way.
Production & Mixing → This is where the real alchemy happens. Every element gets its moment to shine. We’re obsessive about balance, nothing drowns out anything else, but everything hits hard.
Music Videos → We love bringing the energy from the studio into visual storytelling. Watching «Noche de Estrellas» or «Telas de Algodón» come to life as videos adds another dimension to the music. It’s not just what you hear; it’s what you see.
The Release → Finally, it’s out in the world. We go live, share clips, perform, and watch as people discover what we’ve been living with for weeks. That moment when a fan reaches out and says a song moved them? That’s why we do this.
Inside the Hit: Stories from Our Recent Tracks
«Renacer» – This was our debut, and it had to be perfect. We wanted to introduce ourselves as more than just a dance band. «Renacer» is introspective, ambient house with real depth. Olivia wrote this during a personal moment of transformation, and you can feel that vulnerability in every note. It set the tone for who we are.
«Noche de Estrellas» – This one made us laugh. We set out to make a romantic track, but we couldn’t help ourselves, it came out as a high-energy fiesta with horns and timbales that makes you want to break a sweat (hence the 😉). It’s romance with movement. The video shoot was magical, dancing under actual stars will do that.
«Bailando Sin Parar» – Pure energy. This was born from a simple idea: what if we made an anthem that just doesn’t stop? Evi’s drums drive it, Xia’s synths lift it, and Imani’s bass locks it down. It’s designed to be the soundtrack to your personal victory lap.
